Heads us - I purchased Mystic mounts for the first time. The mounts are fine but the sizing differs from the Showgard mounts I have. Mystic appears to size mounts by the total size of the mount, not the size do stamp that fits. I purchased strips and singles at 30mm in height. However the largest stamp that can fit is only 27mm. I mounted a stamp last night that fit perfectly into a 28mm Showgard mount, but it did not fit into the 30mm Mystic mounts. Anyone have a similar experience?

Yep, a couple of years ago, guess I did not pay strict attention to their description. I stick with Showguard now.

I wonder if they are made by Prinz- those mounts are as you described, sized by the mount, not the stamp. It is very confusing and I swear I don't know why they continue to do it.

I use Mystic mounts, mainly 4 sizes for horizontal/vertical commemoratives and horizontal/vertical definitives. I hit one vertical definitive that was too tall to fit in the mount and had to use a different mount. I've also noticed that they don't have a properly sized mount for the Colombians. A standard horizontal commem mount won't fit in the square they have for it...but a little trimming will fix that.

I do have a few other sizes of Mystic mounts but I don't use them much.

All in all, I like Mystic mounts OK, and their prices aren't too terrible.

The pricing of the mounts is what made them attractive. Once I figure out the sizing I may use them again, but fir now I have my Showgard sizing guide and the Scott/Showgard mounts.

I've been using Mystic mounts (strips) for a long time. Until recently they described the mount size in their catalog by the size of the mount, not the stamp that will fit. Their catalog would give a description of how to size mounts: measure the stamp and add 5 mm. to each dimension.

About a year or so ago, they changed the descriptions in their catalog. Now they are described by the size of the stamp.

For example, I use strips. A MM635 mount is now described in their catalog as fitting a stamp with a height of 24 mm. Fine. However, only the mount size is still on the package. A MM635 strip measures 215 X 29 mm.

If you are mounting a stamp, you have to add 5 mm. to the size of the stamp to get the correct mount package to use but you don't have to do it when you order.

I wish they had either kept the old mount size description in the catalog or changed the packages to include the stamp size, not just the size of the mount.

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example.
