I'm trying to fill holes from the Austrian province of Lombardy Venetia and I'm finding alot of reprints for sale . Are these official reprints that were meant for real postage ? Are these legitimate postage stamps ? I realize that counterfeits are everywhere . Thank you

The reprints were made for sale to collectors from 1866 onwards after Italy had annexed Venetia.

Austria had already lost Lombardy in 1859.

Any chance of a look at the back of the stamp?

This may be of interest for comparison.

... and there are valuable forgeries in detriment of the postal authority. These 15 and 30 c stamps were made in Verona bw. 1853-1854. It`s interesting that although they were soon discovered the new issues appeared only in 1858.

Your stamp looks real ,the reprints are done on smooth paper with white gum .The shade on yours is chocolate or as Scott says dull brown . the reprints were done in a yellow brown and gray brown shade of color .

Now that the expert has spoken, I think the cancel lends to its genuineness. Cancels of this time period had oil as one of their components, and often you will see a bit of an oil slick around the cancel and on the back, especially for a nice strong cancel as that stamp has.
