I see many adds for early Canadian proofs. Some mention "on card" some do not mention this.

What is the difference? I see the same stamp "on card" from one seller and the next does not mention on card. Does it mean that some were on a card and some not?

Did the previous owner put it on a card?

Thanks guys

I'm guessing there were official "proof stamps" and "proofs on card" - - two variations. Collectors would not mount proofs on card.

I can't speak for Canada stamps, but with US stamps, proofs were often printed on various types of paper including: small & large die, india paper, and card. Card stock is easily identified by its thickness and rigidity.

All the Canadian stamp proofs I own are on very fine paper mounted on card as printed. They are pence issue proofs. I admit I don't have very many, however.

Thanks for the info guys.

I finally got a 3Pi proof on card. As watermark mentions it is fine paper mounted on card.

I was concerned that maybe the card was added by a previous owner but now I understand better.

Beautiful stamp and got it for 40% of catalog.

That is a nice copy. I know I filled that space in my album the same way. Just happy to have one. Probably as close as I will come to owning the actual stamp.

Thanks. I got nice copies of #8 #11 #12 and #33 plus that 3Pi. Vance auction that ended last week. Very nice people and I like the no buyers premium and no charge for credit card.

I have now completely filled page one on my Lighthouse album with used stamps and the rest of the album up to 1952 with mint including the Large and small queens.

I have completed the 5 albums of Davo and just purchased the new #6 that the 2013 set went into.
My Davo book 1 is a mix of mint and used up to 1952, page one in that needs #10 and another 3Pi to complete.

Book 2 through 6 are complete with all mint. I just need those three Postage due that I mention in another thread.

Millions of spares in stock books collected over the years..lol just like everyone else I suppose.
