I bought it I didn't notice the repair until it arrived I knew of the hinge but was going to frame for my stamp wall, I liked the train aspect and really price was never a factor but when I got it it looked funny like the stamps were glued together, I still see the left and right train in a bit of different position. I wouldn't want my next of kin on my demise to think I tampered with it so want to get rid of it, might do a gradual lowering of price and add make offer too. But who cares I am getting annoyed with it and don't need the grief. http://www.ebay.com/itm/26149924757....m1497.l2649 |

This rather blows my mind as this is the seller, I believe, who issues his own in house certificates and is part of a large thread about certification. I am talking about the original seller of this block. Pretty coincidental. |

It's a good thing the seller is taking it back. $40 is waaaay too much for that item in that condition. As others pointed out, if you like the train topic, there are sound, well-centered, mint-never-hinged blocks out there that will look better on your stamp wall and hold their value better in the future. As you get more experienced, you will get better at spotting that kind of detail before bidding. The seller posted a good enough scan that the faults should have been apparent to a buyer looking carefully enough. Live and learn. |

now there is a thought why didn't I think of that,ya think? kinda a little late with that one but ok at the top of the thread peeps couldn't tell the condition either with all that wisdom you mention, and asked for the back of the stamp which I provided and wasn't in the original auction or mentioned of any repair job just that it was hinged, unless you were looking for it it looks like a unused block that was said to have been hinged at a good price. it wasn't know to be in that condition until it was received and studied. that is the idea to return it to get another better block otherwise we wouldn't even have been discussing it here. I guess I did have the wisdom and experience to come and discuss it to it's eventual outcome with the seller actually having to refund it anyway if I went that route with him due to the blocks issues (glue) and such, anyway I handled it in a civilized enough manner to the satisfaction of us both yes live and learn. I have heard the drama confused, mindblown and distressed here and it seems a bit much mountain of a mole hill, yes live and learn I am sure I picked up on that gem thank you very much. I think I figured it out on my own there were better stamps out there after I was able to actually see the stamp and I will bet you others have done the same over and over ordered got the stamp and seen it was different then pictures on ebay if they are honest about it. in fact they write about it here and there on this very forum from time to time, it is not the last time they will notice flaws and return stamps rookie or pro collector, be honest with yourself on that one I hear it often enough here. thanks for your timely and wise input good day... |
