Two possibly related things... 1. Royal Mail never seems to cancel GB postage stamps on packets and parcels. This year I have zero cancels (excluded are several done by pen) on 100% of packets and parcels that have GB postage stamps on them. Many of the parcels and packets originate from stamp dealers and sellers using up their surplus mint stamps for postage.
2. Prices of GB mint stamps are falling rapidly and are being used a lot more by dealers and sellers for postage. Maybe dealers have an insight into what is to happen?
Conclusion: GB stamps may soon be not valid for posting parcels and packets resulting in most modern mint GB stamps being worthless.
I hope not! I get a lot of stamps on parcels, and yes, a good portion are not cancelled, but Hey! they are still collectable on my end. I will have to get a few freidns to send me some of the newer Machin values (97p,£1.47,£2.15,81p, and the new 1p)before they, if you are correct, go away.
"Machin values (97p,£1.47,£2.15,81p, and the new 1p)"
I believe these are Europe and Worldwide letter rate values. IF..and a big IF... GB stamps on packets and parcels were no longer valid then these would be continued. Parcels and packets would be Horizon type labels only I presume.
