I didn't notice this until I looked at the scan on Photoshop. I saw a black blob with a white background. Zooming in it appears to say "USPS". Has anyone noticed this on theirs? Maybe someone can provide a better scan.

I'm not one to believe in UFO's, but I do believe this was put there for a reason. Anti-counterfeit? Does anyone know?

I did not check to see if it was on C138a or C138b.

I had to look that one up.

You mean the man or the epithet?

Microprinting? I believe this is an anti-counterfeit measure taken by the USPS and appears on virtually all recent stamps?

And it's scary that someone who was as famous for a while as DB Cooper had to be looked up by someone here. :-)

Definitely the "USPS" microprinting. In fact, here's the Postal Bulletin excerpt when the stamp was first issued that confirms the microprinting on this issue:

Yes, it does say "USPS", and it is also on the C138a, and the C138b (2005 Issue) in the exact same spot. Looks like everyone knew about this security stuff (and DB Cooper) besides me!
