I recently acquired this British Columbia 2c on 3d Brown, Scott #8 (not my photo, it hasn't arrived yet). However, it is listed as Stanley Gibbons #28. Scott and Unitrade only list a total of 18 major numbers for BC & VI.

Can anyone tell me what additional stamps SG lists?

Gibbons list two shades of the British Columbia & Vancouver Island 2½d as GS 2 and 3; the imperf and perf 5c and 10c for Vancouver Island as SG 11-14, and the numbering of British Columbia starts at SG 21.

Goodness knows where the other numbers went. Tough luck if you're a perfectionist who insists on SG 1s of everything: you can't do it for British Columbia & Vancouver Island.

Thanks Tony, that explains the #28.

I guess at one time Gibbons listed the 2-1/2d imperf as #1 and perhaps removed it from the listings, as it was not issued imperf - that version is believed to be a proof.

Scott still wrongly lists the imperf as #1. Here is how the Scott numbers go:

British Columbia and Vancouver Island

1) 2-1/2p Dull Rose, unissued Imperf.
2) 2-1/2p Dull Rose, perforated

Vancouver Island

3) 5c Rose, imperf
4) 10c Blue, imperf
5) 5c Rose, perf
6) 10c Rose, perf

British Columbia

7) 3p Blue Arms

Perf 14
8) 2c on 3p Brown
9) 5c on 3p Red
10) 10c Lilac Rose (Unissued)
11) 25c on 3p Orange
12) 50c Violet
13) $1 Green (Unissued)

Perf 12-1/2
14) 5c on 3p Red
15) 10c Lilac Rose
16) 25c on 3p Orange
17) 50c Violet
18) $1 Green

#10 and #13 were not issued and but are given full listing.
