Just purchased this French Colonies Scott 53 stamp. It has a very good June 9, 1882 postmark from Basse-Terre Guadeloupe.

Where do most classic collectors place a stamp like this. Do you mount with your other French Colonies stamps even though you may already have a copy of Scott 53 or ...

do you place with your stamps from Guadeloupe ???

It seems to me to be similar to (but not exactly like Great Britain stamps used abroad.

Hi rascal,

As I understand it, Guadeloupe in the Leeward Islands is termed both an overseas department and overseas region of France, and is also considered an integral part of France. Not much help I know, but personally I would make up a Guadeloupe page in a French Colonies album.

If you already have a copy of the stamp in your main French colonies general issues collection, I would put it with your Guadeloupe collection, maybe creating a page of French Colonies general issues used in Guadeloupe or as part of a town cancel collection page for Guadeloupe (which is what I do..I primarily collect mint but also keep a collection of socked-on-nose town cancels. that one you picture is really a beauty too!)

Beautiful cancel rascal. I agree with DJC, put it on your Guadeloupe page.
