I received these triangle stamps from the pay it forward contest. First I really like cats, and second, are there a lot of countries that have triangle stamps? These are my first and I do not even know what country they are. Does the stamp say "California" in really small letters?

LeAnn, these are from Togolaise, now a republic, once the French colony known as Togo. It looks like Californie. I take that to be the type of cat shown, but don't know much about cats.

modern_who has already identified the country as Togo.

Here are a few more details from the Scott catalog:

Togo, Scott #1185a-b, pair:
1185a, 400 franc Balinese cat;
1185b, 500 franc California Spangled Cat,
issued in 1999, cat value $2.75.
Note the cancellation reads 99 (upside-down).

The California Spangled Cat is an extinct breed originally developed to resemble
spotted wildcats, like the ocelot and leopard.

The Balinese Cat resembles a Siamese with a medium-length silky coat.

Yes,LeAnn there are a lot of countries that issue triangular stamps. These days they tend to be from countries that issue sets designed for collectors but they are neat all the same.

The older triangular issues were generally very beautiful.
