Yes.... and PayPal has a new option as well. Don't pay for it until after you receive it... Seriously! |

Does the seller have a choice in this? Can this 'option' be de-selected?

Quote:Perhaps they intended it for new ebay sellers? I sure hope no one is that naive I think it's just more proof that ebay is moving towards becoming an Amazon clone. All payments on Amazon to third party sellers are made directly to Amazon. Once a third party seller marks an item as "shipped" the payment process to the seller begins. I foresee that in the future all payments on ebay will go directly to ebay (via Paypal of course) and will then be dispersed to sellers. Payment is the last remaining vestige of email contact between seller/buyer, which ebay has proven it wants to completely eliminate. |

I would leave ebay without blinking if I could not have access to my PayPal funds for paid auction items that just ended. I use between $500 to $1000 in postage for each auction and the PayPal debit card allows me quick access to those funds to cover postage costs. I couldn't do it otherwise. |

If ebay goes all Amazon on us ten you can bet someone else will start another old-style ebay type market to avoid all issues or "foxes in the hen house" if you will. |

The consensus on the ebay forums think this might just be an ebay's market dept. misunderstanding and there's no real policy change. A case of the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. I hope that's true. |

It is the case for new sellers or sellers who haven't sold anything in the last 90 days. The buyer pays for the item through paypal, but the funds are held by paypal until the buyer gets the item. Thus, proof of mailing is important for the seller to show that the buyer has received the item. If there is a problem with the item, funds are not released to the seller. This maybe done to prevent the seller from selling something, not shipping it and running away with the money. |

I agree Londonbus1. I did that "Proof of Mailing" (once) way back when and it didn't work. Since then I send everything via Priority Mail with conformation of delivery, or 1st class with tracking. The "I did not receive item" has gone to zero, unlike the time prior mailing without either tracking. It appears that this problem is really escalating these days. Trust, what is that? |
