Wert, you're lucky the Marker Monkey did not get a hold on this one. This sort of thing is common in both your country and mine!

I am not familiar with modern issues but the dark band looks like an overprint error. The colours overall make it more like the Angel at the Gates of Eden, than a Christmas Angel.

Wert, you'd be surprised at the amount of uncancelled stamps one can receive. I estimate that I receive about 30%.

It appears that the postal workers are on our side. The uncanceled stamps are modern or old, generally a lot of them, or the envelope or packaged marked "philatelic" material.

Some day I just might soak all of them off. Bet I'd get $50 or so.

Here is a handful to see:

The stamp is part of the Christmas series issued in 1998. all the letters of the words Christmas/Noel were in lower case.

I get mail all the time without a mark on it --- especially if it is USA bulk or nonprofit.

US nonprofit and/or bulk rate mail do not require postmarking.

Canada Post may not be listening, jamesw, but this guy is:

It's Gabriel, trumpeter of the Last Judgement.
(Archangels NEVER reuse stamps.)

It is kind of a pretty stamp. Was it re-issued in a different value and a different color later?

Peter.
