Received 2014 USPS Stamp Yearbook today. Very surprised how the stamps were just thrown into package. In the past, stamps were placed in sealed clear packet to keep together. Looks like they were in a rush just to get the yearbooks out. No stamps were damaged. Now I can sleep- I reluctantly have my $2 fully die cut Circus Themed Sheetlet plus many panes with duplicate stamps that I do not need. Wonder if clear mounts provided are archival? Like most of you, I really disliked having to purchase all this stuff just to get the $2 sheetlet. We should consider writing someone advising of our disappointment over this. Maybe not help but at least USPS will have heard from us. After all many of us have had standing orders since the mid 50's plus all the other items we need to purchase to have specimen of each issue, year after year. |

Acanalizo, you post the most interesting images. I wonder if you caught the pun, or double meaning, in the reference to "standing orders." In the imagine, it looks like one person has had enough, and is "going Galt." No more taking orders for him! |

@blcjr, and I wonder how many will get the "going Galt" reference? Nice catch. |

I have been waiting to see if the 2014 yearbook will be made available on the USPS' ebay web offerings. Nothing has been added for ebay sale since December 12. |

books went in to the recycling bin, stamps to the postage pile and the circus souvenir sheet to a glassine envelope for safe storage. With collectors already bidding these sheets to $60+ range the future looks good for these. I don't expect many dealers to lay in stocks so collectors who buy the yearbook will do well. |

I just received my Year Book. To add another problem to the mix, the stamps were simply tossed into a large white envelope and not well protected. The Janis Joplin issue I received has a crease in it, the "mounts" I received are no longer the type which can be placed into an album but are just clear plastic without any adhesive. Seems it's going down hill for the Postal Fulfilment Center too. |

Yes these mounts are archival, they are from Showguard from Germany.
TO STAMP NUT - your question clear plastic without any adhesive... These are water activated yours should have adhesive on them. |

I received a 2014 yearbook yesterday. I was going to keep the envelope with the stamps sealed and put it away for the future, but decided to open it. The circus souvenir sheet was torn on the left with about 3 mm area missing. there were also 2 tears at the top. I called the fulfillment center and they said they would replace it. |

Going back to the discussion about Scott not giving this s/s a number, why on earth will Scott give a die-cut error of the SSB issue that just surfaced a subnumber??? http://linns.com/news/breaking-stam...used-on-mailIs this die-cut error stamp readily available? Was it intended or is it just a freak issue? I honestly think Scott are pretty arrogant in ignoring the circus s/s... |

omxfl: The die-cut omitted flag strip is an accidental error, not a deliberately produced rarity or item of limited distribution. Hence it gets a catalogue number. Scott does seem to be following their stated listing policy, whether we agree with it or not. That said, it would not surprise me if, years from now, some of these items are assigned catalog numbers. It's just not likely to happen during my lifetime. |

This is one of the reasons I prefer Michel over Scott. Michel don't have an agenda - they list all stamps that are postally valid, period.

Quote: they list all stamps that are postally valid, period. The fact that Scott doesn't do this is, frankly, for lack of a better word, stupid. The fact that there are valid US stamps out there, being used for postage on a daily basis, and not listed by Scott is...well...stupid, and a disservice to their customers and the hobby in general. But I guess that's their prerogative. |
