I got this paper with German Olympics stamps. Before I soak them out, can anyone tell me what this might be. I don't think it was sent in the post.

The stamps were issued to commemorate the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. There were also different cancels used at 14 different venues around Berlin.

It was common for collectors to post the entire Olympics set on paper or cover, then have the commemorative cancels applied as a collectible. Your cancels are from the Olympic Village. These stamps are very common legitimately used, and also very common as philatelic creations such as this. I wouldn't soak them off if I were you.

I would soak the stamps off. The paper is creased and torn, there are paper clips markings. The stamps in the top row are actually stained by the paper clip markings.

Your choice, but I would not soak them. The set with the complete cancels make a nice addition to any German collection.

If you leave it intact, you have a nice piece which although not in great condition, has an interesting story behind it. If you soak them off, you have common stamps, with CTO cancels, in poor condition. Just my $.02.
