Irfanview is a free image-editing program. I think Neeskens meant that he uses it instead of the free image optimizer to reduce file size.

You don't really need it, but I love Irfanview and use it for a lot of different things.

Let's see if these work. I switched my browser form Chrome to Windows. I find that meshes better with websites. Let me know if you can view them. Two pages of Guatemala.

Woops- two images of the same thing. Will try to redo later today with the second image.

Excellent page views, Stamps. I love the coat of arms in upper right corner. Star cancellation in fourth row is very cool. Keep us up-to-date with your progress.

Fantastic, Stamps! Seeing a complete album page of beautifully colored stamps is one of the great joys of this hobby.

Looks like you are using hinges. Is that personal preference or just ease of use?

Thanks for the nice comments. I am indeed using hinges- with page this full, using mounts would be impracticable- it just wouldn't work. As time goes by I will perhaps use a few clear mounts for more valuable stamps. I try to use vintage older hinges- mainly Dennison- on most of the stamps. I will use the more recent ones on the cheap ones.

I used to have a set of Browns (actually still have the pages for most nations). Agree with you on the mounts...the spaces really were designed for the era of hinging and mounts tend not to fit well in the spaces.

One caveat though, I did notice over time some of the black printing offseting to the back of the page facing it. More noticable where there were heavy amounts of ink (like the coats of arms, and the borders. Not sure why this happened with mine - the pages were stored upright in climate controlled enviroment - but it did.

Image showing offset on back page and the page that caused it

I have a lot of work ahead in getting these filled with what I already have. Still I am wondering why the publisher doesn't provide title pages? All you get is a blank page with the part # in bold face. I will need to try to create some one of these days. Also, Subway sells these but does not provide any binder labels. I will need to get some custom made, perhaps.

I just wanted to update this thread. I recently purchased the first volume of the Vintage Reproductions from Subway. These are two volumes that cover the 19th century.

Regarding the number of binders needed… I purchased the ones that included two jumbo binders, but ended up moving them into two regular-sized binders and even added filler strips. They seem to fit in these two binders just about right. Now, I have two brand new jumbo binders left over, so my plan is when I buy the next set, which comes in three volumes, I can save some money and just buy the "pages only" and put them into my two jumbo binders.
Interestingly, it is a bit cheaper to buy the pages + jumbo binder set than it would be to buy the "pages only" and regular binders.

Quote:
If Subway's estimate for the 19th century pages is any indication (2 jumbo International binders), they may be overestimating a little on how many binders one would need. But these are still going to take up some shelf space regardless.

I was just doing some "calculations" regarding this last night. A full set of Vintage Reproductions will take either 10 Jumbo or 14 Regular International binders.

400 pages or 500 pages seem to fit just about right in the Regular or Jumbo binders, respectively
