Hello,

I am fairly new to stamp collecting and have over 100 blocks of stamps that I would like to place in a album. Which stamp album would you recommend getting?

Thank You!

Welcome Dano83. How big are the blocks? I personally use Hagner-type stock sheets, the largest of which (1 strip) can accommodate something 25 x 18 cm (roughly 9 1/2 x 7 inches). Smaller blocks can be acommodated in smaller strip-sizes (2 strips or even three strips). Others use clear-strip m mounts such as Davo, Hawid or Showguard mounts which can also be cut to shape.

Oops, pressed "Post New Reply" rather than "Preview."

The Hagner mounts can be put into their own binders. To be honest, they stil look like stock books and aren't too attractive. The other mounts can be put into any album, and offer much more flexibility for organising on a page, annotation, etc.

Dano, welcome! As Tim said, the size of the blocks will matter somewhat. Also, which country is this for? If it's for US and they are plate blocks (with numbers printed on the paper attached to the stamps) there are illustrated plate block albums available as well. If this is for a different country, I'm not aware of an album for blocks and you'd have to use stock sheets as Tim mentioned.

I was really tired last night when I posted this. I meant I would like to break the blocks and put one of each in the album.

I'm sorry about this.

Are these stamps all from a particular country? Are they valuable? Do you have a budget in mind? There are many factors involved in finding the "right" album. There are worldwide albums with spaces for stamps from every country, and then there are single-country albums. Within each category there are various types of albums depending on what kind of stamps, what your budget is, etc. Decent albums can be had for under $50, but some of the more deluxe ones cost hundreds.

I'm not aware of many albums that cater to blocks so you might consider making your own. You can search through the archives here and see many different methods the members have taken to create custom albums. Some are as easy as creating a border and page header in Microsoft Word, to fully published pages with historical information. Have fun!
