I'm in one of periodic slowdown phases at the moment. I had been paying far greater attention to coins than stamps, briefly retired, found another job and moved from Florida to Georgia. Little time for much else these days. But, one day, the clicks will start on ebay just as in the past.

I haven't ceased collecting since I picked it back up again a couple years ago, but my buying habits change sometimes. I'll go back and forth between buying specific stamps and sets and just buying worldwide and country mixes. A few months ago I was focused on completing a certain area of my collection, but lately I've been buying a lot of mixtures and kiloware. I don't think I'll ever tire of getting a packet of stamps in the mail and going through them to see what I got. I feel like a kid at Christmas every single time.

Unless a collector has real deep pockets, I suspect that there are a lot of other collectors that just stop collecting because the cost to collect is getting too high. Or, they become disinterested in the labels put out by the Post Office that they call stamps.

That pretty much summed up my current situation Art. Well stated. I too am specializing in my hometown collection because it's cheaper than the singles I need and a lot more interesting to me.
