I am trying to put together a list of U.S. stamps in the "American Poet" series, but I'm finding very little information online. So far, I've come up with the following:

1970- Edgar Lee Masters (Scott 1405)
1971- Emily Dickinson (Scott 1436)
1973- Robinson Jeffers (Scott 1485)
1974- Robert Frost (Scott 1526)
1975- Paul Lawrence Dunbar (Scott 1554)
1981- Edna St.Vincent Millay (Scott 1926)

I'm not sure of the total number of stamps included in this series. Does anyone have additional information, or confirm if I'm on the right track? Thanks!

Scott 864-68 -- the Famous Americans series, 2nd set of 5, was poets:

Henry Wadsworth Longellow, John Greenleaf Whittier, James Russell Lowell, Walt Whitman, James Whitcomb Riley

Ignore the above.

I see I misunderstood your question--you are only trying to get a complete list of that modern series; I thought you were looking for a list of all US stamps with poets on them.

This is harder than it seems. I can only come up with four poets in the "American Poet Series" in chronological order, as follows:

American Poet Series:
1st 1970 - Edgar Lee Masters
2nd 1971 – Emily Dickinson
3rd 1972 - Sidney Lanier
4th 1974 - Robert Frost

Note that you'd have to delete the following:

Robinson Jeffers. That stamp was part of the "American Arts Series".
Edna St. Vincent Millay. That stamp was part of the "Literary Arts Series"

There were countless other poets commemorated on stamps from the 1940s through the present day, some of which were included in the Literary Arts Series, which is outlined in this link:

And let's not forget 20th Century Poets that were featured in this stamp series:

But if the original request is specifically "American Poet Series", I think the four issues noted above are all I can find that specifically reference that series.

One final note: Although the Paul Laurence Dunbar stamp is certainly that of a poet, I cannot find any reference to the USPS considering it part of the "American Poet Series".
