Even that more recent "Cameracolour" postcard featuring the Mersey Tunnel has an interesting history, as the publisher, J. Salmon, Ltd., still publishes postcards today and has been doing so for well over a century, all within the same family:

That shot of the Mersey River Tunnel looks almost identical to the approach tunnel to Logan Airport in Boston. The Boston one is one way but has a nice confusedly (new word) turn off to the airport... Taking the wrong split at 4 AM is easier than messing up during the prime time drive (you can back up! Ha!).

The Prince of Wales Hotel in Harrogate, Yorkshire, UK.

I gifted this one to a pal born'n'raised in Harrogate.

Frith's archive includes a photo c1900 (below).

The postcard image is of a larger building, and we know it is from a later date.

Someone who knows more than me about arborology will be able to nail-down that date (hint: the trees grew).

Someone who knows more than me about UK postmarks & stamps might be able to narrow down the postmark year.

Here's another from Harrogate, Yorkshire, UK.

Again, I'll gift this one to my pal, born'n'raised in Harrogate.

Back before it was an insanely common name for a restaurant or bar, a 'pump room' was the key mechanical component of a public bath house. Having lived for a time (post-typhoon) lugging water in buckets for 'domestic requirements', I'm all in favor of working water pumps, and agree that they are a fitting subject for a civic-minded RPP.

Sadly, some barbarian made-off with the GPU (Genuinely Postally Used) stamp.

Chingford is in London, ~200 miles from Harrogate, so perhaps the card was bought in Harrogate, written on the train, and posted in London?

Such a nice card: a painting signed by the artist, that gorgeous handwriting, an interesting arrival cds ... what's with that ugly killer?
