I recently inherited a world collection from my father. I used the Scott catalogues from my local library to identify most of the stamps. Boy was that a long and difficult task. Some of the stamps were just put on blank pages with no indication of the country. I could use some help in determining the country and Scott or illustration number of the following images. Thanks for any help you can provide.
1918/1920 overprint on Russian stamp from 1909. These overprints were made by the White Army (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_movement) in the Kuban region. Michel catalogue number #1, under Russia/Post of the regions inflicted in civil war/Southern Regions/ Kuban (Jekaterinodar).
Overprint on Russia 1909 4 kop. New value 1 Rubel. 1919/1920, this one too belongs to the Civil War issues. You`ll find this under Siberia, general Koltschak`s army.
The last three images are from Spain Express mail (the first one), 1944/1960 Spain Telegraph stamps (the ones with the eagle)and on the last row there are 4 Spanish occupation of the city of Tangiers (Morocco)stamps. Value: a few cents, if you find someone interested on them...
Junksasa: welcome to the web site. Two of your stamps are South Korean. The dark blue stamp; with what appears to be a DC-3 airplane.....note the CH at the start of the row of characters at the bottom, which is usually an indicator of South Korea. Note the next stamp following; the pink stamp with a fan; also has the CH. More important, see the yin and yang circular symbol in the upper left corner, which also is an indicator of a South Korean stamp.
The first two stamps appear to be Chinese revenues; at least that is what it says on the stamps. ;-) ;-) The 3rd and 4th stamps down have a portrait of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, the founder of the Chinese Republic in 1911. I'm not familiar enough with Chinese issues to advise if those are actual postage stamps or revenue stamps. One almost needs to have a specialized China stamp catalog, like the Chan, to determine what is what in the 20th Century Chinese issues due to there being so many provincial overprints; occupation stamps; and stamps issued for liberated areas (by the Red Army) during the civil war.
Thanks to all who helped out. I never would have thought of looking in the countries suggested. My dad had them in the wrong place/country in his collection. He purchased "The World Aristocrat Stamp Collection" in 1957 and stopped putting stamps in it by 1959. Only has 3500 stamps. Thought I would keep it for the grandkids when they get older. From the suggestions I did find the non-telegraph/non-revenue stamps in the Scott catalogues.
