I received a package from Ireland that had the stamp pictured below. I found it interesting that the value of the stamp was not printed in the stamp. It was stamped when the package was mailed to determine the actual cost. Is this a stamp as we generally know and collect them? Without the cancellation, it looks like an ordinary sticker. Has anyone seen a similar stamp before?

ATM/FRAMA label. popular in many European countries. they are dispensed from a machine that stamps the value on it based on need. literally thousands of designs from many countries. a sub-section of collecting, favored by some, ignored by others.

Eastsideislander, this is an ATM generated stamp, just like the ones you find in the lobby of any US post office. Only a bit more attractive in my opinion. If you search around on this forum you can find several posts about these stamps.

I have just starter collecting Ireland. These stamps are known as SOAR stamps (Stamps On A Roll) SOAR stamps have their value printer at the time you mail an item, or you can buy sheets of them pre-printed at the standard first class rate.

Though Ireland hasn't said it, it looks like, at some point, all definitives will be SOAR stamps, and stamps as we're used to them will only be commemorative stamps, which I think is a good idea.
