Just a shot in the dark here- anyone have any knowledge of what is happening with this dealer:

http://biistamp.com/index.php

Hank Bieniecki has been a fixture in Eastern Europe philately for decades. I had a little business with him last year. Upon trying to pick things up with him this Summer I found myself unable to log into his site using the password and ID I had created. I re-registered and got in then found the shopping cart was disabled. I have sent around three emails to him with no reply.

I am a member of Polonus and contacted them (he is a board member) thinking they might know if there is some issue. I got a cryptic reply from someone that he is 'off the radar' awhile. They went on to say he'd probably be back up shortly. That was mid August.

Probably he has been hospitalized or something but if anyone knows what may be going on, I'd appreciate hearing. Many thanks!

You might check with the American Stamp Dealers Association; or APS. I suspect he is a member of both.

I just now sent him an email (fourth time) telling him I am concerned about him- which I am- and if there are computer issues, asking if I can mail order. It is a long story but I am worried that I smehow ticked him off on something and he may have me blocked. I can't think the small issue we had would have prompted this but you never know.
Will go the APS route next week if no response.

Update- I got a reply from Hank just now. He had cataract surgery and has been out of circulation but is getting back up now, although his site has issues. He is still able to service orders by mail. Just felt someone may be interested..

Thanks for following through on this matter. I collect Polish stamps, altho Poland is not my highest philatelic priority. Seen his ads for years, but never got around to contacting him.

All issues resolved with his site now. I placed an order last night. He provides great service and you always feel he is more of a friend than a dealer. I recommend him highly.

I don't collect Poland as such and had not heard of Hank Bieniecki, but it is always good to hear about a dealer who is so well liked by one of his customers. I'm also glad that Hank is OK!
