I recently aquired a nice Lincoln precancel collection. I am new to pre's and have just got the bureau and t/t catalogs. The collection is from a fellow I googled and he passed about 20 yrs ago. The first part of pages is from an exhibit he did at some time.
Starting with the buro collection of #584, 600, 635, I have marked all I have in the catalog. The pages seem to be complete other than a few errata (7) that there are still spots for.
At the beginning he lists the following have been issued: #584 - 45 #600 = 68 #635 = 112 Total = 225
but at summary at end he says:(I assume this is what he has shown in the exhibit)
#584 = 41 #600 = 62 #635 = 101 Total 204.
Short of me going thru every page of catalog does anyone have an electronic list that could find the missing ones?
This guy was very thorough, I am surprised he didnt have them all.
There is also #821, 1036, 1058 to go thru later and a good t/s collection. I also just won another 1000+ t/t lincoln collection on it;s way to me. Lots to learn.

I can help with this. When you have the PSS Bureau Catalog program, the totals per Scott number are easy to produce. The are: SC584: 41 SC600: 62 SC635: 101 204 total is correct. also... SC821: 6 SC1036: 95 SC1058: 83 SC1296: 49 SC1303: 35 These totals are also listed in the current Scott Specialized I think. |

I just checked your numbers against the Scott Specialized Catalog and all are correctly there, except for the next to the last entry. There is no Scott #1296 (it's an unassigned Scott number) -- I think you may be referring to Scott #1282, which is correct at 49 different Bureau precancels. |

Interesting. Where did you find your latest purely Lincoln collection? I haven't ever seen collections organized in that kind of a way (only been collecting precancels about three years). |

chasa,
Thanks for the confirmation #'s. Greatly appreciated.
jan, both eslay acquisitions. I've been collecting Lincoln for decades, and never even thought about precancels till now. First spotted collection a 3-4 weeks ago. Had a Puerto Rico U10 full cover tucked in the back that more than doubled what I paid for the entire group! plus several Philippines embossed covers that more than covered the cost.
then low and behold up popped another Lincoln pre collection, of course had to get that also. Now I will have lots to work on.
The collection of these #'s seems to be complete, quite a nice score.(plus now about 2K additional T/T stamps. SC584: 41 SC600: 62 SC635: 101 SC821: 6 SC1036: 95 SC1058: 83 |
