An interesting read on just how basic the postal delivery system is for Ireland and how they are just now proposing to add Postal Codes to streamline the delivery of mail:

I trust Ireland will not be using a variation of the (ill advised) USA numeric system.

I've shipped a couple things to Ireland here and there and I've been surprised at how simple the addresses are, often a name, street name (no number) and a town/city name and that's it. But, apparently they still get there because feedback gets posted. Interesting how the article talks about how neighbors and people with the same name help figure out where the mail is supposed to go, which is kind of how I pictured it working with such basic address information.
