Curious about new issues from Cuba I ventured to ebay to see what was New and available , to my surprise a 2009 Charles Darwin 4 stamp set had 24 bids and had reached the price of $ 147.50 .

Besides the fact that it's a new issue for 2009 I couldn't find a reason to justify the final price, supply or demand sooner or later more of these stamps should be available , did someone go overboard or am I missing something.

Ok after analyzing the ebay ad again I may have found something that justifies the price, the listing title is odd , 20th anniversary of Darwins Birthday ? Either that's an actual Postal Blunder or the seller forgot to add a zero. BTW the listing ended on Feb 14th

Jay, an error could be the reason for the bidding...but still it sounds like a hefty price,,,who knows how many of those errors are out there..it takes a while to determine value on an error..some people have more money than brains !!

Sometimes, people just caught up in a bidding war.
I have a silver dollar which I bought a couple of years ago for $80.
They now sell for about $150. One day I was watching one on e-bay and it went for $550, even though there were other ones available for "buy it now" at $150 to $160.

I do not know any information on this stamp but look at the first stamp.
The first one is showing a date of 2010 while the others show 2009.
Could this be a error stamp or was this the intention of the printers?
