This Italian stamp from 1928 (Scott 201) appears to have a special postmark which is upsidedown in relation to the stamp. From the position of the word "Mussolini" I am thinking that it may be a quotation? I would like to put the stamp on it's own page if the postmark is of interest? Any help with the complete postmark and translation would be appreciated.

the full inscription:
Questa vecchia terra italiana puņ dare il pane
ai suoi figli di oggi e di domani
-Mussolini-

rough translation:
This Old Earth can provide Italy the bread
to her children present and future

A few covers with this postmark are listed on delcampe.net. This one was the clearest (although incomplete). All the postmarks that I saw had a Milano town mark.

Regards, Robert

Thanks Trainwreck! I searched ebay but never thought about delcampe.net.
I really appreciate the photo. I will probably add it to the page that I plan to make for this stamp.

I found the full quote on this page, which deals with all kinds of Italian postmarks. http://xoomer.virgilio.it/carlostam...l/grano.html His image shows a Rome postmark.

I clicked on the link in the previous thread, used Google's translator and cropped the image below. The result is posted below even though the translation sounds a bit off:

I will tell you I had a hard time with the third word on one of the previous posts which I thought read "Vecohia" when, in fact, it appears the word is "Vecchia".

I don't speak or read Italian, so it's all based on what I uncovered online.
