I am organizing my Israel collection and ran into a ponder.
How to tell if a "Doar Ivri" 1948 # 7-9 is indeed a counterfeit?
Here is a pic of the example provided by the Israel Philatelic Society of the real deal.

And this is the image provided for a counterfeit offered on Bidstart for $25 US.

I must be missing something. The only thing I Think I see is something with the way they are perforated.

Any hints?
Thanks.

I found these on the Swedish Tiger site. The forgery is pretty good, but with a direct comparison, it's easy to see that among the differences, the numerals are larger on the forgery and the color is possibly wrong:

Forgery

Real

This was my copy [since sold] of the 250m.

Just to confuse matters. Regarding the Bidstart lot, I can say it appears the overall appearance is not right. The perf count looks OK. But comparing the other scans shown, those don't look right either ! [appearance]

Bear in mind that more than one lot of forgeries have been found on top of all the very good reproductions.

There are many forgeries of the Doar Ivri set and usually one can tell by the typeface of the Hebrew. In the fakes there is just something that is "off" especially in the text portion of the tabs. Maybe one has to be a Hebrew reader to catch this.
