Albert Schweitzer (1875–1965) was a theologian, philosopher, organist, and physician best known for his humanitarian work in Africa. Born in Alsace (then part of Germany), he later founded a hospital in Lambaréné, in present-day Gabon, where he devoted much of his life to medical service. His ethical philosophy of "Reverence for Life" emphasized compassion toward all living beings. In recognition of his humanitarian efforts and advocacy for peace, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in Peace in 1952.

DDR, 1965 and 1975, Rwanda, 1966, Congo, 1966.
