It looks like the Scott A44 but its different. It looks like some shading and minor design changes were made that resulted in the A44 we see in the Scott Cat. Thanks Andrea

There are several varieties of this design. I'm trying to ID three different versions on three covers sent to the same person. A clearer scan would help. |

The straight edge on the bottom was not natural for the plate configuration used for these stamps. Those perfs have been trimmed, which constitutes damage to the stamp. |

Yup Bill beat me too it #206 re-engraved. The background of the design has been altered a little bit and makes the design look real "muddy". You can get really great at spotting these after you see the original design of the Scott #134, #145, or #156.
P.S. I did not know that essayk! Thank you. |

Unfortunately the photo I posted is very poor and you cannot see the design well enough to see the differences.
I have 3 Scott #206 A44b stamps a few A44a and several A44 but the stamp I posted is different.
I will scan them and post them soon. In the meantime I have attached a slightly better photo.
There are many differences between the stamp I attached to this post and all the other A44 design stamps. The most noticeable is the scroll at the bottom right hand corner. The scroll on the left is the same as all the other A44 stamps but the scroll on the right is different it does not have the fancy tail. It looks more like a number 2. The top left corner scroll is different and so is the scroll on the right corner.
The shading is different especially on the collar of his shirt.
The second dot in the words U.S. Postage.is a mess
There are more but I'll send the scan first so you can see better. |

Belfastgirl, Did you used to post in these forums under a different name? The reason I ask is because your posts sound a lot like the person who used to post under 'Coinwatcher'. |

No I did not post as coinwatcher and how does coinwatcher sound.? I inherited quite a large collection of stamps from all over the world. I have spent about one year studying stamp books trying to learn about them. If I happen to have several copies of the same stamp and one of them looks different than the others I do my best to look it up in the Scott Cat if I can't find any info on the oddball stamp I ask for help. I was told to join this club because there would be people willing to help me so I did. This is the second stamp I have inquired about and I am doing my best but all ready you are critizing me. I don't mean to disagree but if it looks like a duck and it walks like a duck and it sounds like a duck .....then there would be no need to ask questions |

Nice touch Don. Spare us the conspiracy theories. Just my opinion, but I think an apology to the young lady would be in order. |

How is asking you if you posted previously under another name being critical of you?
I ask for the reason I stated, your posts sounded a lot like his. He would make a post, get some great feedback, but keep posting like the feedback was incorrect. Your couple of posts do the same thing. You have gotten some good advice from some very knowledgeable folks. If you feel you have an unusual stamp based upon very fine details, why not post higher quality/close up images in your first post? This common sense approach would be far more efficient and you are likely to get your answers much quicker.
No hard feelings, just trying to help you.

Mike, This coming from the guy who cut and paste other people's posts form other forums without permission? Do you just sit and wait to find something to find fault with me or my posts? Give it a rest, we all know you don't like me. So be it. If you want to flame me feel free to contact me privately and unload whatever heartburn you have with me; I see no reason to do it publically.
