My Unitrade 2015 catalogue arrived this morning (from Don Wainwright: $US 42.49 incl. shipping)

I was pleased to see that the editor has removed the insulting private overprint #705iv

Now, if he will just do the same for the other private overprints: #705iii/v/#781ii as mentioned.

I was also pleased to see the Chinatown Gates imperforate listed:

Ever since I first posted about this, a year and a half ago, I have never seen one sold on ebay, though some are always on offer at US$115-168. (Course I don't want to sell mine, but...)

The fuddle duddle overprint is a legitimate variety. And it is a valid historical note - nothing insulting about it. As I recall it was a very appropriate remark in the House of Commons at the time.bz

Do you think Canada Post has not approved these overprints?

I don't think Canada Post would ever approve of a stamp that was overprinted "Fu@k Pierre" (for that was what fuddle-duddle meant) or "P.E.T. '60-'79 R.I.P"
Why should Unitrade list stamps that were not for use as postage? They're stickers and belong after the Xmas seal section.

Well I don't know. But overprinting stamps - presumably to be later sold - would require Canada Post approval. Regardless of the message. And if you didn't hear me the first time - "fuddle duddle" is in the House of Commons records.

Anybody can overprint a stamp. I can show you ten different ones on sale on ebay that were never approved by Canada Post.
I think you will have to show me the House of Commons record of what Trudeau said. As far as I know he muttered the F-bomb which was not recorded and caused a ruckus in the Commons. It is only afterwards, outside, where he was asked about it and he told reporters facetiously that the word was "fuddle-duddle." So it's not likely that the word made its way back into the record, post facto.

Canada Post did not approve these stamps. That is why they have no place in the catalogue. They are cinderellas (at best).

Gilles is 100% correct. All those stamps were not approved for postage by Canada Post and do not belong in Unitrade.
