Hi guys..I have a cover that says its "First flight by North Atlantic Air Service"...NOW..All the covers I have seen has a date of May 27th, 1939 as seen below of a cover I borrowed from the internet.

Now here is my cover dated May 30th, 1939 from the Royal Doulton Company to Canada...But if you look at the letter inside it states at the bottom that it will not be sent by normal route but instead by way of Merseilles and the Azores...different from other first flights..see pictures below.

Is this anything to get excited about or just a glitch in the air service..??

I can't answer you question, but could you tell me if the top cover addressed to L. J. Ragatz is for sale on ebay? If so, I would like to bid on it. Can you supply a link?

Thanks.

Don

Just a guess, since I don't have any source of information for this flight, but could it have originated somewhere else on the 27th (say London) and your cover was mailed from an interim connection along the way?

The first "sample" cover you posted was a bit confusing. Why was "North" changed to "South" on the cover?
