Absolutely ... if you have a 125, that is. Check the Scott Specialized Catalog description.

"Examples of No. 114 with faint or pressed-out grill are frequently offered as No. 125. Expertization by competent authorities is required."

Good luck ...

Agree with Partime that the grills on these issues are often pressed out, so an expertising service opinion would be needed if you would be intending to sell one.

By the way, none of these pictured examples show the type of cancel you would expect to see at the later date of 1875 (ellipse killers, etc.), which is one of the indicators that it may be a 125, so most likely these are not 125. However, that in itself is not conclusive. If you still think one or more may be 125, submit it (them) to an expertising service.

I'm pretty certain they are all Scott #144's and like stated a lot of the grills were light to begin with and was pressed out with a stamp vice. You might be able to see the grills by flipping it over and holding the stamp at an angle to a bright light or dip into lighter fluid and see what shows up. Best of luck too you!

orstampman is correct, and the only way that expert services will describe 3c 1869s used, without grill, as #125, is if the color and impression, as well as the type of cancel used, are all correct. None of yours seem to fit the bill, so it is almost 100% certain that traces of the grills are there but are not easily seen, or the grill has been pressed out - which I'm told is rather easy to do.
