This was in the auction lot that had my German C38 on LZ 127 flown cover.
The left side of the cover is embossed William Whitman Company Inc. 51 Fifth Avenue, New York, N.Y.
Not as special as the Zeppelin, but I didn't have one of these.

It's always great to find stuff I don't have. The one person that was bidding against me on this lot, was bidding for the old picture frames that were included. The stamps and covers may have been discarded If I hadn't been there.
I gave the gentleman one of the frames.

An interesting historical read on Mr. William Whitman of the "William Whitman Company, Inc." named on the posted albino cover. See Pages 343-347 at the following link for his biography:

http://books.google.com/books?id=-Y...n%22&f=false

I lost count at twenty (20)! as to the number of organizations, clubs and associations he had affiliation with back in the day. It seems he was a very busy and successful man.

wt1, wow. I'm impressed by a young person that at 14 years old struck out on his own for Boston. There is one description that jumped out at me..., "those principles of business righteousness which are exemplified in his career". Someone I would have liked to know.
Seems today "self righteousness" is the main trait.

Another interesting quote from that biography -- obviously long before the advent of computers, but nonetheless, something that was a cherished asset back in the day, but today we set it aside all too easily:

Quote:
"He acquired early a good legible handwriting, an accomplishment which in business will never be out of date."

Very nice impression!

I like albinos. Here's my favorite, originally returned for postage, but eventually deemed "OK". The postage area is impressed with color on the inside of the cover.

Here's one with a stronger impression which went through the mail with no problem (no color at all):

Used is even better. Those are great. You can see the color bleeding through on the first one.
