I love that shades chart of yours Rod!

Shades are basically impossible at the best of times but on line is very difficult.

But in saying that your 1d reds look to be interesting shades!

I was at the genesis of their creation, John
they were the result of a report I posted by Orlo-Smith the great Australian Philatelist
who created the shades from 200,000 penny reds.

Someone ( A very smart someone ) created the colour chart, I kick myself for not recording who did it.
It was either someone on this forum, or RCSD Recreation Collecting Stamps Discuss.

Anyhows, we doff our berets off to him/ her.

Hi to all

Thought you all might like to see the original charts from the Australian Commonwealth Specialist Catalogue.
These are from the forty-second edition which had coloured illustrations of the stamps, and covered all Australian stamps to 1981

Now of course, things are more specialised, and there are separate volumes for specific eras.
Regards
Horamakhet

I've got to get myself an ACSC Catalog after seeing all of this great information. Does any one know where to get one for a reasonable price in the States? (California). Thanks.
