I thought that you might (or not) find this interesting, I know I did anyway! I seen this yesterday in my incoming mail. A circular from Kenmore. It's refreshing to see they're still trying to attract new collectors to the hobby! I haven't seen a stamp collectors advertising bit in quite a few decades in mainstream mail.
They do have some useful info in the catalog but you might find better prices on the net though..just saying?

Note the last sentence at the bottom of the ad: "Order now and you'll receive our huge Collectors Catalog plus selections of stamps on free examination without any obligation to buy."

Updated wording that means "stamps on approval".

Although some may like the service, the bottom line is that most do not and unsuspecting "new collectors" who might respond to such an ad may not realize the subtle wording about approvals which could put a negative spin on drawing new collectors into the hobby.

It is my impression that the Kenmore prices are on a par with Mystic.

In my opinion, both Mystic and Kenmore do help to bring in new collectors but havevery similar offers of higher priced common stamps available at far lower cost if purchased from the typical mom & pop style dealers. Although there are far less of the old style stamp dealers around today, they do still thrive.
I've never found real value from approval services beyond the introductory offers. Here too, the typical offers are of mostly all very common stamps with less than better centering etc. Some time ago, Mystic did have a nice "No Die Cut" MNH single of the new $19.99 USS Arizona Memorial Priority Mail Express stamp reasonably priced at around 23.00 or so...and I purchased it although I personally don't care for the No Die Cut varities. I thought with a minimal No Die Cut printing, it would be nice to have.
I guess Mystic & Kenmore have their clientele and they must do well considering how long they've been around.

"typical mom & pop style dealers" are rarer than Zeppelins these days!
