Santa was apparently bidding at the recent Rumsey sale.

Very rare free frank of Rutherford B. Hayes as an Ohio congressman...I don't mind that it's just a front!

Congrats! Reminds me of the days I was working at an ad agency in toledo OH. I was just starting out in '87 and I got one of the "beginner" jobs: the brochure and stationery materials for RB Hayes center in Speigel Grove in Fremont, OH. It is a very interesting place and a geneology center in northwest Ohio. I just checked their website and they are still using the logo I did way back when! I swear I modeled my cover illustration after an RB Hayes stamp portrait, but it doesn't appear to be #563. Based on the sig yours is obviously genuine.

Wow A Presidential signature on a cover...I'd OK with a front too in this particular case although, like you I can imagine, would enjoy the full cover and the contents! Wouldn't that be a trip! Anyway great stuff and Congrats!

..and it's a nice pair with my James A. Garfield congressional frank with the same Cincinnati postmark in red.

[corrected reply to get the right image; original accidentally had a Lucretia Garfield widow frank]

That's Amazing! this whole topic! Maybe change the thread's title to something like- Presidential signatures on cover so we can use the site's search function to find it as it would be a pity for this post to get lost in the annals of information on here no?
