Christmas shopping for me is always interesting. In the past I always recommend a gift certificate to Bel Aire Stamp and Coin... Those never get wasted! Now that there is a Hobby Lobby in town I gave out 40% coupons and said if you are stumped just get me a green bag of 300 worldwide stamps. I wound up getting four bags. I've bought two bags before and one had about 30 very recent Germany Commemoratives which was a nice surprise. I've found other modern commemoratives in them too. Of course there are plenty of common duplicates too, but the bags are quite fun. I also tell people to save their stamps for me and that is always a nice gift too. Did anyone else get anything philatelic under the tree?

That looks like a fun Canada lot... The folks who like cancels would get a kick out of it... And lots of soaking too I see. |

No stamps but I did get the Scott Canada Specialized part I pages. It covers 1851-1952 and all the provinces.
A nice Canada album has been on my wish list for quite some time.

No stamps or covers, but I did get a nice hand held digital microscope that I can hook up to the computer and take nice detailed photos of stamps. It makes it much easier to see little plate markings and the like. |

I like it Larry - how far BOB does the specialized Canada catalog go? Does it include revenues? Merry Christmas! |

NOPE! nothing stamp related at all. I did however get a Gibson Les Paul a few weeks prior though so I guess I'll count that! I can't quit playing it! |

I didn't get anything stamp related, but, did get an old Real Photo postcard from my wife of our area here with a nice clear cancellation.

Two great classic stamps from my middle sister. Especially like the well centered Martha Washington. I also received a nice magnifier from my oldest sister. |

No stamps in my stocking, but, receive cash from two different folks. That will most likely become stamps soon. |

The closest to a philatelic "gift" came a few days before Christmas when my wife was directing a pre-Santa toy box purge. Mysteriously, a missing magnifying glass, two sets of tongs, and a half-empty bag of hinges appeared on my desk. Of course nobody knows anything about the reappearance of the long-missing items. |

Got some quality off-paper kiloware in my stocking and updated versions of Scott Catalog volumes 1 and 2 under the tree. |

I received some space covers from my wife for Christmas, and so I'd like to share them. This is a First Day Cover for the 4c Project Mercury stamp of Feb. 20, 1962. This is the day of John Glenn's historic first orbital flight aboard Friendship 7 (Mercury-Atlas mission 6). The cover was subsequently cancelled on Feb. 20, 2002, the 40th anniversary of that first flight. This cover commemorates the launch of Apollo 7. This was the first manned Apollo flight. The mission lasted 11 days and confined itself to Earth orbit. The cover's cachet shows a trajectory around the Moon. The first mission to orbit the Moon was the following, Apollo 8. This cover commemorates Space Shuttle Mission STS-109. The Space Shuttle Columbia sent a crew of 7 to service the Hubble Space Telescope (Servicing Mission 3B). The cover is cancelled with the launch and landing dates. This cover commemorates Space Shuttle Mission STS-119 (ISS Assembly Flight 15A). The Space Shuttle Discovery and her crew of 7 delivered an Integrated Truss Segment to the station. Again, the cover is cancelled with the launch and landing dates. Robert |
