Hi all,

I have a huge problem with sorting my Japanese stamps.
I wanted to sort the stamps on year of issue.
But I cannot read the Japanese text on the stamps.
I've already tried to read the marks on the stamps, but that does not work with all of the stamps, because most don't have a readable mark on them.

So my big question to you all is:

On which ways can I sort my Japanese stamps???

How would you sort them?
I hope some of can get me on the right path.

Many thanks in advance!
Greetings, Rik

You might look into some good quality reference material. Catalogs and other material specific to your collecting erea. Also post good quality CLEAR images of the stamp (or stamps) in question and maybe someone can help you out?

If you can't read the words, go by the pictures; in other words, set your collection up on the basic of topics / topicals.

Rik, prettige feestdagen en een voorspoedig nieuwjaar!
For Japan I would use www.stampworld.com They show a picture of every single stamp.

First of all, the best wishes for 2015!

Thanks all for the replies.
I am going to sort the stamps on Topics.
That's, for me, the best option, because I have a lot stamps that needs a proper sorting.

So again, many many thanks!
Greetings, Rik
