Even though they were under German occupation, there was a fair bit of philatelic activity during those years. I remember being able to afford some covers in the late 60's with my limited schoolboy income, even a bisect, so yes, there's a fair bit around.
That Chachet that states 1st day of of issue is after the fact. Unlees, of Course, the Germans knew they were to lose the war and predicted it would be in 1945!
it is interesting to note, that the Guernsey bisects are not all that rare. Many citizens posted cards and letters to themselves with the bisects, suspecting that after the war they would be valuable. However, they produced too many, and they did not become rarities that the citizens hoped for. Horamakhet
