A 1936 cover with nearly 20 year old stamps. I read that 1923 was the last printing of the W/F series. Is that accurate?

yes, it's not unusual for collectors to use older stamps on their mail. Last week I used a couple of the 1920s 2c commemoratives on my mail. They were badly hinged and off center.

Of course. I don't think about stamp collectors from earlier eras. Certainly they would do this kind of thing. Thank you Glenn Estus.
