So, work gave me an iPad this weekend. Well, at least for s little while. I decided to load the Linn's app on it.

I had been using the Linn's app on my Nexus 10 tablet and thought it was OK. Not spectacular, but OK.

The iPad version of the app is a whole lot better. It's actually pretty good. You can download an issue for off-line access. If you double tap on an article is loads in a scrollable view with the WHOLE article. No need to flip to page 42 to see the rest of it. I actually sat down and read the last 3 issues of Linn's during my son's flute lesson and enjoyed it immensely.

The thing we need now is for Olive Software to update their Android app, so it has the same features as the iPad/iPhone version.

I think I am going to start reading Linn's regularly again instead of letting them "pile up" and read 5 of them at a time.

I agree. Using the iPad app, I bought a subscription in electronic format to test the content of Linns for a while to see whether I should resume getting it in print, which I have not done in years. However, the app is so good that I have no plans to resume print delivery.

Can you download Linns for an "off-line" version? My iPad needs to be connected to WIFI for the app to run.

You can. There's a button on the toolbar to download an offline copy. Not sure how you delete the offline copy after it's been downloaded. My iPad is wifi only also and I cached three issues.

The fact that it will show you a whole article at once is a huge plus. It's now possible to skip the ads, if you really wanted to.

I'm not really the target audience for the ads anyway. I am never going to sell my stamp collection to Dr. Bob Friedman and I am not going to order some stamps from Mystic Stamp Company.

I agree that the iPad version is excellent, but it will not run on an iPhone. I also subscribe to "Gibbons Stamp Monthly" that is available through Apple's Newsstand app and can be viewed from both the iPad and iPhone. It might seem like a small difference, but it's huge for people like me that rely on Mass Transit.

Is Gibbons Stamp Monthly worth it for someone in the US?

I don't have an Ipad myself but Linn's reads very well on my Kindle Fire. Husband bought me an extended print subscription and I totally forgot there's the electronic added in with it. Just tried it a few minutes ago and it's perfect!
