Hi guys..I have only 2 bill stamps and both are pen cancels..anyone got one with a real cancel, or is that the way it was back then..?

I don't know Wert, those pen cancels look pretty real.

There are hand cancels available in addition to manuscript cancels (which predominate). Revenue dealer Eric Jackson has some available in his online stock on his web page.

Wert, when I lived in the Netherlands we used to have revenue stamps that had to be put on certain invoices. A signature and an indication of the date were the most common form of cancellation!

Wert, my understanding is that pen cancels were quite common on Bill stamps. As a rule of thumb, the stamps that received a regular 'hammer' type cancellation are normally worth a small premium more.
