Looks like Amos and other resellers are cutting prices on the 2015 Scott catalog sets.

Amos is offering the 6-volume set + "Free" U.S. Specialized for $350 + $35 domestic shipping = $385. ($55 per)

If you don't need the U.S. Specialized, there is at least one ebay seller selling the 6-volume set for under $300 shipped, multiple sets available. ($50 per)

Not a bad price for new stock.

Now if only someone would discount the 2015 Classic Specialized...

At that price, they're almost competing with 1-2 year old used volumes. My set of 2012's, 13's and one '15 fit my needs just fine for the moment, so I don't think I'll be taking advantage of this, but I hope they do something like this in another year or two when I'm ready to upgrade. I, too, wish they'd do something similar on a 2015 Classic Specialized. I don't own any edition of that one yet but I mean to get one within the next few months. I don't want to buy an older one as it sounds like they made a lot of changes to my my main collecting areas this year.

For those who can "make do" with a (new) 2014 Scott Specialized Catalog of US Stamps, Amos has them "on sale" right now for $49.99:

I'm almost ready to pull the trigger and get the new catalogs. My current ones are 2008/2009. However, since I mostly collect up to 1950 or so, and I am specializing in US and Canada, I can never find any need for getting a new world-wide set. (I love Unitrade for Canada.)

I, however, agree with the rest of the group that a new Classic Specialized at a reasonable price is what I really want. If they would put that one on CD or download, I would buy it in a minute.

If someone doesn't want to shell out $300 for a set of 2015s, I will sell my set of 2014 vol. 1-6 for $195 shipped in the U.S. That's cheaper than any 2014 set on ebay. Ex-library copies, very clean.

I took the bait and ordered a set of the 2015 Cats. (just under $300 for the set to my door in 7 days). This was a serious upgrade from my 2000 set which of course was black and white. What a huge difference. On the downside they take up almost twice the space on the shelf. The feel of the larger book is tough to get used to, the old set being thinner just feel right in your hands. The color pages make searching for items quite a bit easier. In my limited use to so far, Cat Value changes have been all over the place depending on the country. I only do "used" stamps and I was surprised how much some values have changed in both directions. When I looked at 2/3 year old sets for almost the same price I figured it was too good to pass up. 15 years from now who knows what format we may be available to us so I am glad to have a recent set that I intend to hold for some time.
