Different Bulk Mail Indicium

I got a couple of items in the mail recently, one I have not seen before and the other, to me, an attractive alternative to the old style bulk rate printings.

The first which appears to be a printed cancel over current 5c American Toleware stamp. It is on a 9"x12" envelope with a calendar enclosed. Has anyone else seen a bulk rate paid with a printed cancel on non-bulk rate stamps?

The second is a photo printed as part of the bulk rate indicia. While, perhaps, not so unusual, it does give the appearance of a stamped letter at first glance. It was used on a solicitation letter from the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.

Yes, it happens quite often, as the goal of the mailer is to use any mailing "tricks" necessary to get the piece a second look by the addressee. In your case, they use an MPP (Mailer's Postmark Permit) and a fancier-than-usual obliterating block.

Here's an example I received sometime ago (the MPP isn't as fancy, but they did use conventional stamps for the mailing):
