I'm expanding my library of revenue stamp catalogs, and I need some assistance or recommendations.

Ideally, I'm looking for catalogs written in English.

Catalogs I already have or are en route:

Albania & Greece - Barefoot
Austria - Barefoot
Baltic States - Barefoot
Benelux - Barefoot
British Commonwealth - Barefoot
Bulgaria & Romania - Barefoot
Canada - Van Dam
Czechoslovakia - Barefoot
Denmark - Scandinavian Revenue Stamps Volume II
Germany - Erler (see below)
Hungary - Barefoot
Italy - Barefoot
Italy - Italian Municipal Stamps by Koeppel, 2 vols.
Mexico - Mexico's Revenue Stamps (MEPSI)
Persia - Revenue Stamps of Iran. Bahareen & Brooks. No pricing, unfortunately.
Russia - Barefoot
Southeast Asia - Barefoot
Sweden - Facit 2015 Scandinavia Specialized
United Kingdom - Barefoot
Worldwide - Forbin (1915)
Worldwide Telegraph - Barefoot, Hiscocks
Yugoslavia - Barefoot

The Erler volumes I have:

VII - Court Fee stamps
VIII - German Occupation Issues
IX - Fee stamps of Bavaria
X - German Municipal Fee stamps
XI - Berlin
XII - DDR

Catalogs that I know I want, but cannot find U.S. vendors for:

France - Yvert's Catalogue Des Timbres Fiscaux Et Socio-Postaux De France Et De Monaco (last published in 2012 I believe).
India - The Court Fee and Revenue Stamps of the Princely States of India. Koeppel & Manners. 3 Volumes.
Japan - Standard Catalogue of the Japanese Revenue Stamps. Shimomura & Furuya.

If anyone has any other suggestions, or has catalogs that I don't already have that they are willing to part with, please let me know.

Thanks!

I found the France and India catalogs using Bookfinder.com. There are US sellers, but you may not like the prices asked. No luck with the Japan catalog.

You may also have to expand your search for "Cinderella" stamp volumes. I collect Australia. I've purchased many revenue stamps directly from Australian dealers who refer to them as "Cinderella" stamps - we in the US have a broader definition of stamps.

There is "The Revenue Stamps of Norway and Related Non-Fiscal Issues" by Bjørn Kristian Wang, published in 2007.The text is in English. My copy is on a CD, but I believe that a printed version was also produced. One dealer's listing says that the printed version is out-of-print, but that he has a few of the CDs available.

Values in US$ are given in a separate chapter, which could be printed out to bring to shows. He states that they are only his estimates and, in any case, are 8 years out-of-date.

Check out my previous post on New Memel / Klaipeda Philatelic Handbook. https://goscf.com/t/41571

The handbook has illustrated chapter on Revenues Stamps, written by guest author Andrew Kapochunas. It is the most comprehensive and accurate reference on Memel revenues to date. This study details 172 revenue stamps, by far more than any other published work. For example, John Barefoot (2014) lists only 155 issues.

Looks interesting. From the previews, it appears that there is no valuation of issues in the handbook. Is that accurate?

revenuecollector,

WRT the remaining Erler catalogs, I have a source in Germany that I use almost exclusively for my German reference materials. He speaks good English, ships quickly, and can usually get what I'm looking for even if he doesn't have it in stock. I'm not affiliated, I've just had good luck with him in the past.

He currently lists on his website the following Erlers which you don't yet have:

Vol 1 -- Deutsches Reich / Bundesrepublik
Vol 3 -- German States (Anhalt to Kurhessen) to 1945
Vol 4 -- German States (Lippe to Württemberg) to 1945
Vol 5 -- Danzig, Memel, Upper Silesia
Vol 13 -- Municipal Revenue Stamps of the Saargebiet
Vol 14 -- Social Insurance Stamps, LVA Provincial issues
Vol 15 -- Social Insurance Stamps from 1 Jan 1923
Vol 16 -- Social Security Stamps: Saargebiet (this one doesn't have the Vol. number on the cover)
Vol 17 -- Freight Stamps, Newspaper Parcel Stamps, Seat Reservation Stamps, Tax Substitute Stamps

Of the numbered volumes, that would just leave the following:

Vol 2 - -German Colonies & Overseas Steamship Lines
Vol 6 -- Saargebiet
Vol 18 -- Municipal Fee Stamps (IIRC, this one's actually 15+ sub-volumes)

If you ask, Werner might be able to get some of these for you. He was able to locate a few for me that weren't specifically listed on his website.

Erler also wrote at least 18 other issues that aren't part of the numbered series. I only have one (Stamps of the NSDAP (Nazi Party) and its Sub-Organizations). The other cover a variety of topics, some German and some not.

For German-occupied territories, I also use the books by Hans-Dieter Lutz. They're more specialized studies than catalogs, however -- AFAIK, their catalog references are all to Erler. And they're in German, so...

revenuecollector,

Correct, no valuation is given just each issue description, color illustrations of stamps (with few exceptions), overprint varieties, and catalog concordance table between various catalogs that include Barefoot (1983/88, 1998, 2014), Erler-Norton (1980, 1991, 1995), Norton (pre-1980) and Lapas (1971) with detailed notes describing previous cataloging mistakes and omissions. It is a fundamental Memel revenue study in my opinion.

Customers who purchase eBooks through publisher's website http://mkpdirect.com will get free updates to reflect all published corrections and changes to the edition they own.
