I found a small book of old foreign stamps, and was hoping I could get some advise. I have found lots of different people telling me lots of different things... So I hope to gain some insight.
These were not used, some of them have small pieces of tape on the back, I believe they were hinged... I am not a stamp person. I found this book of stamps in a book I got. I also found a larger book of 100's of old used foreign stamps... but thats for another time / place.
Thanks

Welcome to SCF! I don't have much time at the moment, but will give you what information I can muster.

You have Austria, Lichtenstein, Iran (Persia) and Monaco stamps.

The stamps from Iran are from the 1909 set (catalogue #'s 448-456 shown, minus a couple of stamps) that catalogue .50 and $1.00 (the 26c stamp) in unused condition. Not rare or valuable, but certainly collectable.

Enjoy!

Brian

The first three stamps are Lichtenstein Scott #s 8, 5, 4. The bottom four stamps are from Monaco # 14, 16, 18 and 57. The middle 8 are from Persia (modern Iran) #s 448-454, 456. As Brian said not valuable, but very nice looking. Is these all the stamps from that book, or there are lot more? These stamps are common, but not the most common ones, so there could be something more interesting in that collection.

The Persia stamps are part of a set. The higher value ones are the same, but with silver or gold borders. Very attractive, and worth a little bit - but beware of fakes! If you do have them, it's probable they are reproductions, but not certain.

Danko,

I have a little over 100 more used stamps that were all found in the same pile of stuff. They were found in a few old books...

The used ones are very common. Mostly UK, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Spain.

It seems there are always more popping up with this group. I wanted to ask this however... There are a few pages of stamps that have been glued to lines paper. Was this common? (see new pics)

yes, those are common too. They are common, but still worth something, $10-$20 (the whole collection) on ebay maybe. As with any early stamps there is always a possibility to find some more expensive variety, but the chances are similar to winning a lottery. A higher chances for small prize, and very small chances for jackpots. But you can't win if you don't play

The stamps that are glued to the lined paper hopefully can be removed by soaking. Here's some advice on how to do this: http://stamps.org/Soaking-Stamps
