So years ago when I was first collecting I managed to snag some cheap but nice WW envelope mixtures. In one I found several stamps from Cuba depicting a variety of Audubon paintings from his original wildlife studies. I only got about 5 or 6 of them and I've no idea what happened to them since but now that I'm back to my album I'm trying to find them. I can't seem to find them listed in my Scott's (1999) and from what I've seen some consider them illegal, some cinderellas.....
Anyone else know of the series? Perhaps know a dealer to find it from? I don't know what the set name is or the Scott's so it's being a pain in my butt trying to track them down tonight.
Are you sure that they are not from Haiti, rather than Cuba? There was a scandal about the production of about 75 Haiti Audubon bird stamps around 1975.
You know, now that y'all mention it might have been Haiti. I remember one was a beautiful pelican and another was a western bluebird with stunning hue. It's been a number of years so I could totally h ave been mistaken about Cuba.
