I recently picked up an album with mnh stamps in mounts, quite a few of which had a nice straight line of disturbed gum across the middle. So no wrinkled pages and no 'nice and neatly' disturbed gum.

Glue sticks are used with mounts. Rather than moisten the back of the mount, and risk water and/or saliva wicking into the mount, you simply use a glue stick on the back of the mount, since glue sticks are moisture free, and naturally acid free.

I too find this very intriguing. I always picture a glue stick as kind of stubby; are there dispensers shaped more like a pen to allow more control over the size of the contact area?

Are these safe to use on used stamps directly? Mint?

Glue stick glue does not soak off in water as far as I know.

Elmer's. I find that the stamp mount comes off easy enough from the page and if you want to change the stamp it is easy to do
