I was going through my Russia collection and found this one. I noticed the overprint has the Ukrainian trident on it which made me doubt it's origin. If anyone has any further info, it would be much appreciated. Thanks - Ed
I agree that the trident and the denomination (karbovanets) confirm Ukraine.
Early modern Ukraine (1992-1993ish) is a two-lifetime pursuit, with provisionals, locals, bogus issues and every other concoction you can think of. Thousands of them. I have no idea if this is common, rare, legitimate, bogus, or what. I can agree that you can start digging in recent Ukraine if you want to know, for sure.
It's definitely a 1991-1993 era overprint from Ukraine. The fact that it's value is only 15 Krbs tells me it's definitely not 1993 or the second half of 92. Inflation was out of control by then and stamp prices were significantly higher.
This is a Ukrainian provisional fantasy. It is not an official stamp issue. Compared the myriad of fantasy issues produced by private collectors and entrepreneurs there are very few legitimate issues.
