I have looked high and low through Scott's to help identify this stamp. It appears to be from Albania, but I can't find it. Your help would be appreciated.

Yes, it is from Albania. It is a bogus stamp issued by Albanian rebels (?) to drum money out of collector's pockets. There are three different sets in existence. If you would like more info Google the slogan "Komitetit te qindreses" and you get plenty info.

This is the 4th stamp from the 5th series of these stamps. Same design as the 4th series but with the addition of the 1952 inscription and in different colors.

These later series were probably produced in the united states - possibly by Stolow, and sold directly to collectors. At no time were these stamps affiliated with the Albania anti-communist resistance committee. They are plentiful, although the earlier series are a bit harder to come by.

The first series "possibly" could have been created in support of the committee - but this is not proven.

The link below has a lot more information about these stamps.
