Hi Chicken...I use black background mounts from Mystic Stamps. They sell two assortment packages, depending on how much you want to spend. Go to their website, mysticstamp.com and go to the last page of their catalog on line. I find they work very well. I have done my entire US album with them. I feel I will be able to pass on my collection to my heirs with no fear of stamp loss.

I just use scissors to cut the strips. First I place the mount in a greeting card and use it as cutting guide to get a square cut.

T360, I just tried it and it works great!

I used to do the Xacto knife and steel ruler method, but it was a bit painful when I sometimes trimmed my fingers at the same time.

You're so clever Tom I never would have thought of that

You mean T360 is not your real name?

I also use Showgard and have for years. I use precuts for US and the strips for my Israel collection. I use a guillotine to keep everything straight. It works great. I think someone had asked about sources. I have used Golden Valley Stamp (www.gophersupply.com)for years and have found that if you are buying enough to make the $7 shipping charge, you cannot find better prices on mounts and other supplies.

And I hope I didn't violate any rules by doing this. I didn't see anything specific and I didn't make it a link. And I'm not affiliated with them at all

I recently went to a craft store (with a 50% off coupon) and purchased an item called "Tombo Mono Adhesive" which is basically a roll-on adhesive strip but is specifically rated as "removable", "acid-free", "photo-safe" and "leaves no residue". It goes on to say its removable bond "removes without tearing paper".

I found this very easy to use and it allowed me to adjust the mount very easily. I like the fact that there is no moisture involved and that the mount felt very secure once in place.

I also tried moving a few mounts and they came up without any bending or warping. I was able to remount them very easily.

I can see this coming in very handy in cases of publisher page updates or when changing albums. This could end up saving time and money which are always good things.

Amosadvantage.com has a good discount on Scott mounts.

And, please use a glue stick to affix mounts and avoid the slobber issue. Saliva has water in it. Glue sticks are moisture free.

I use the Scott mounts and have had no problems. You might want to check out http://globalstamps.com/ the prices are much lower and they have some sizes that they have custom made by Prinz, same as Scott.
